Homemade Onion Dip
The best onion dip!

The best onion dip!

My friend Kristine brought her mom’s onion dip to a girl’s weekend a few years ago. The first time I had it, I literally thought I could eat it with a spoon. She’s not allowed over without it. Just kidding, but she gracious brings it and sometimes brings an extra container to have when the party’s over. It’s a recipe passed down from her late mother and I bet it brings back fond memories whenever she shares it. She was nice enough to share the recipe with me and is allowing me to share it with all of you. It couldn’t be easier to make and I bet most of you already have the ingredients on hand.

Ingredients

1 - 8 oz. block of cream cheese, softened

1 cup sour cream

1 small Vidalia onion, minced very fine

Onion salt to taste (I use 1 tsp.)

Black pepper to taste, optional (this is my addition)

Method

In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add in the sour cream and continue to mix, scraping down the bowl. Add in the remaining ingredients and place in a covered bowl in the refrigerator until the flavors develop. Dip with your favorite potato chips. Enjoy!
